If it's instead of a card that you could replace with another anyway, that won't change much if anything at all. If on all three packs, you skip removal in order to grab a rare you won't use, that'll hurt your chances. Is this really the case? I could try only slamming mythics, and then only draft rares if there's nothing better for my deck in the pack, but skipping rares basically sets me back an entire pack from set completion.ĭepends what your choice is. I have heard that in reality, the winrate percentage when raredrafting vs seriously drafting is negligible. In DOM/GRN/RNA, among others, you'll find plenty of rares that neither bots nor players would go for. They will pass more or fewer rares based on how good said rares tend to be. But going 2-3 or worse is pretty expensive, and taking that many rares will hurt your deck significantly.Īs for the actual drafting phase against the bots, apparently they used to pass tons of rares but my experience is that I get passed 0-1 rare per draft.īots are updated to mostly mimic human behaviour. In Premier Draft, it seems that people pass a lot of rares, and you can get like 6-10 per draft. If that average player decides to rare draft and then consistently goes 0-3, that's only 300 gems lost, and probably 2-3 rares gained, per draft. An average player only wins about 350 gems per event. It's difficult to quantify, but it is generally held that you don't get punished for rare drafting in Quick Draft. These results are all cheaper per rare than buying packs:Įven some of your sob story results are better than buying packs. I almost feel like 5k gold for 5 packs is a better return on investment at this point, at least that gives 5 ticks towards a wildcard. I'd love to do Premier Draft because it's more fun, but the 10k entry fee is a bitchslap to anyone trying to play f2p and the ranking system doesn't even take effect there. I'm also not confident that if I seriously drafted I would be able to have any noticeable improvements in draft performance. Is this really the case? I could try only slamming mythics, and then only draft rares if there's nothing better for my deck in the pack, but skipping rares basically sets me back an entire pack from set completion. I also just suck at drafting so I generally ended up trying to force decks around the rares I drafted (first draft this weekend I forced a Fiend Artisan + Eerie Ultimatum creature deck that went 2-3, and then I forced a Lutri + Narset spellslinger deck that went 0-3). I've been repeatedly told from multiple sources that rare drafting and hoarding boosters is the best way to complete your collection as a f2p, but after a series of dismal drafts I am not so sure.Īs for the actual drafting phase against the bots, apparently they used to pass tons of rares but my experience is that I get passed 0-1 rare per draft. I'm not new to MtG but I am new to Arena.
